Products

Unlike supermarkets and delicatessens over 85% of Squisito products and ingredients are homegrown and homemade from fresh ingredients. We do not use artificial additives or preservatives in our fresh food and use age old cooking and preserving methods with 100% natural ingredients for storecupboard items.

Squisito sponsor local producers to grow or rear particular breeds or varieties. We support our local economic multiplier and help promote and maintain regional and local biodiversity by producing food that is not just locally sourced but reflective of Warwickshire breeds and varieties - even though we make mostly Italian food!

As a result most of our food is seasonal and, often as not, it is made to order so what you buy at our online shop does not come off the shelf but takes a few days to prepare, make and despatch. Squisito make slow food not fast food.

So, if you do not see what you want just call Sara on 01788 833 477 or email sara@squisito-deli.co.uk

Italian Sausages

Squisito produce a unique range of over 30 Italian sausages from Tuscan to Napoli and Luganega to N'duja plus over 100 specialities from around the world from South African Boerevors to Mexican Chorizo and Warwickshire Beer & Rosemary to Worcester Apple & Perry. All of our sausages are produced from family recipes using Italian cuts and methods so they contain no additives, no artificial preservatives and no gluten – "No Hooves & Eyelashes" as we say!

What you will find in Squisito sausages is good meat - at least 89% meat - and usually wine or spirits which help work as natural preservatives and flavouring in the Italian sense of the word. Our ingredients are 100% natural and local. Everything is homemade so we butcher, mince, stuff and use our own herbs and spice mixes. An Italian sausage is the very opposite of the British Banger! Read more here.

All Squisito sausages are made fresh to order and usually made on the morning of despatch or Farmers Market. See our Squisito recipe book for just some of the things you can do with our sausages.

We are happy to teach you to make your own sausages, cured meats or salami here at Squisito HQ, in your own home or farm or in Tuscany! Go to our Artisan Cookery Cookery School if you would like to learn to make your own.

Bread, Flour, Yeast & Salt

It is not for nothing that the Lord's Prayer includes the words "Give us this day our daily bread", so fundamental is bread to our diet. However, the bread enshrined in the Lord's Prayer has been so corrupted by supermarkets and commercialisation that slow bread made with just flour, water, salt and leaven is now a rarity whilst 'gluten intolerance' has become the scourge of the convenience food age.

As members of the Campaign For Real Bread, Squisito bake slow bread and Italian specialities on Friday and Saturday for Farmers Market and run Pizza Nights with our Sicilian wood fired pizza oven during the Summer. All of our bread is made with natural flour, water, sea salt, leaven and natural yeast without additives or preservatives.

Squisito can bake bread to order for collection from Squisito HQ or Farmers Market whilst a wide variety of natural flours, fresh yeast or leaven and Trapani sea salt are available for collection or home delivery by calling Sara on 01788 833 477.

We are happy to teach you to bake here at Squisito HQ, in your own home or on your farm or in Tuscany! Go to our Artisan Cookery Cookery School if you would like to learn to make your own.

Cantina

In Italy the storeroom under you house where you keep your wine, passata and salumi is called a cantina. The Squisito cantina is a store of products and ingredients we have made and preserved over the year plus a store of kitchen essentials you cannot easily find in England like good Sicilian anchovies, Marzano tomatoes, Tuscan porcini mushrooms and Puglian olives.

Our homemade produce ranges from fresh pesto to passata and balsamic glaze to limoncello.

Herbs & Spices

Squisito produce a wide range of herbs and spices from Air Dried Oregano to Oak Smoked Trapani Sea Salt which we air dry and smoke in Monks Kirby. None of our herbs and spices are denatured or irradiated. The only 'processing' you will find here is a Rayburn cooker or a wood smoker so you won't beat Squisito for flavour or freshness.

Our herb and spice mixes are generally quite coarse to maintain the flavour so you might find the odd stalk in pot of thyme whilst are dried packs  of herbs like rosemary are on the branch. If you want a finer product get your hand blender and a sieve out!

Herbs and spices are available in 100ml pots, window bags or we can refill your own pots at market.

Gelato & Sorbeto

Squisito ice cream and sorbets are pretty much unique in the UK since we use fresh cream, fresh fruit and eggs and not powders, fresh air or artificial bases (the definition of gelato in Italy). Consequently, many of our ice creams are relatively low or no added sugar since they contain natural fruit sugars (fructose). Some Squisito recipes are therefore naturally suitable for diabetics or people with other dietary requirements like lactose intolerance since ours is 'real ice cream'.

Squisito do not make soft scoop or whippy ice cream since we do not add air or lots of sugar to our ice cream (that means a 100ml pot of Squisito ice cream is often equivalent to 500ml from a supermarket). Most of our ice creams contain organic content but we cannot call them 'Organic' since we do not set out to be organic certfied. My attitude is 'Why produce organic certified ice creams from powders and processed ingredients  when you can make an unlimited and changing variety from local fresh fruit, cream or yoghurt?'

My range is outstanding for quality, flavour and creativity with everything from Fresh Strawberry to Christmas Pudding and Gin & Tonic Sorbeto to Quince & Calvados. Go to our Artisan Cookery Cookery School if you would like to learn to make ice cream with Sara.

Coffee & Biscotti

One of the things that makes an Italian day is an espresso and a biscotti to pick-you-up.

Squisito love coffee and 100% Columbian Arabica which you can buy medium roasted Venice style or Nero for a stronger but still rounded espresso. Our coffee is available as beans or cold ground to suit your particular machine or stovetop. The difference is amazing.

We can also make Sicilian canoli, fresh Venetian tiramisu plus a range of different liqueurs like amaretto, grappa or coffee liqueur to enjoy as a digestivo.
